It was a privilege to meet so many leaders, innovators, and change-makers in our community, celebrating diversity and innovation in the British tech sector.

Lucy is a design engineer who focuses on projects for patient care and has developed the CUE1, a non-invasive wearable device for Parkinson’s that uses vibrotactile stimulation to reduce symptoms of slowness and stiffness, resulting in improved movement. Charco Neurotech, named after Professor Charcot, who first recognised the therapeutic benefits of vibratory stimulation for Parkinson’s in the 19th century, is committed to continuing advancements in health technology.

It’s important that the adhesive patches are applied to the body correctly in order to ensure that the CUE device can be used as intended, please refer to the tips below.

[Body Side Adhesive]
✅ Ensure that when the body side patch is applied to the surface of the skin, no edges are folded under. This will reduce the chance of the adhesive needing to be replaced prematurely. If an edge is folded under, the adhesive should be replaced to ensure proper use of the CUE device.
✅ Please don’t reattach a used adhesive patch as the adhesive is not intended to be reapplied to the body once it has been removed.
✅ If the adhesive patch becomes wet after bathing and showering, gently pat the adhesive patch dry to avoid lifting the edges, if you do notice that an edge is starting to lift then that is an indication that the adhesive patch should be replaced.
✅ Ensure that the patch is clean and free of any lint to ensure that the CUE device can be attached to it as intended.

☑️ Ensure that all edges of the device side adhesive patch are firmly attached to the CUE device, if an edge is starting to lift then this is an indication that the adhesive patch should be replaced.
☑️ When attaching a new adhesive patch to the CUE device, please ensure that the gold contacts on the back of the CUE device are not obstructed by the adhesive patch, in doing so, they can hinder the charging of the CUE device.
☑️ Ensure that the device side patch is clean and free of any lint to ensure that the CUE device can be attached as intended.

Last Wednesday, Charco was privileged to participate in the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAE) Leaders in Innovation Advance programme's Inclusive Economies Founders' Panel. :)

Lucy from Charco joined distinguished panellists including Sol Escobar from Give Your Best UK, Howard Wu from Antobot, Michael Reid from Solar Polar , and Maria Gonella from Quantum Group. It was an inspiring opportunity to exchange experiences with other business leaders who have overcome similar challenges in the ever-evolving Inclusive Economies sector.

The biggest learning for us is to fall in love with your community, not your idea, and constantly make an improvement to your idea to do the right thing for your community – for us, that is people with Parkinson’s and people around them :).
