1. WHAT ARE COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES?

In Short: Cookies and other technologies collect certain information about how you are using our Website.

Cookies are small text files that uniquely identify your browser or device (computer, mobile). The cookie file is stored on your browser. When you return to that website (or visit websites that use the same cookies) these websites recognise the cookies and your browsing device.

Cookies are not the only way to recognise or track visitors to a website. We may also use technologies that are similar to cookies, such as web beacons/pixels, log files and mobile device identifiers.

  • Web beacons/Pixels/Gifs. Web beacons (also called “tracking pixels” or “clear gifs”) are invisible picture files/small portions of code that contain a unique identifier that enable us to recognise users when providing services. Web beacons collect information such as a record of the page on which they are placed and a timestamp. We may use web beacons to track the online usage patterns of our users and in HTML-based emails sent to our users to track which emails are opened and which links are clicked by recipients, which helps us measure the success of our marketing campaigns. We may also use web beacons placed by third-party advertisers to track whether you have clicked on the adverts they have placed and to measure success. While you may not have the ability to specifically reject or disable these tracking technologies, in many instances, these technologies are reliant on cookies to function properly; accordingly, in those instances, declining cookies will impair the functionality of these technologies.
  • Local shared objects. Local shared objects (also called “flash cookies”) are pieces of data that are stored on a device to enable Adobe’s Flash functionality. We may use Adobe Flash to display graphics, interactive animations, and other enhanced functionality. Local shared objects can track similar parameters to cookies but they can also provide information on your use of the specific feature that the cookie is enabling. For example, if it facilitates the display of a video then we can receive details of how much of the video was watched and when viewing stopped. Flash cookie management tools can be accessed directly via www.adobe.com.
  • Software development kits. Software development kits (SDK) are third-party software development kits that may be installed in the App. SDKs collect certain information about the device and network you use to access the App and help us understand how you interact with our App.
  • Device identifiers. Our Website may use one or more device identifiers to recognise your device, including the Android Advertising ID and iOS Advertising Identifier for advertising purposes. You can reset your device identifier or opt out of targeted advertising through your device settings.
  • Fingerprinting. Fingerprinting involves combining a set of features or characteristics from a device or browser (e.g. information from HTTP headers, browser language, time zone, JavaScript objects, installed fonts, installed plugins) in order to uniquely identify you. We may use fingerprinting for security or user safety purposes.

2. CATEGORIES OF COOKIES

In Short: You can get different types of online cookies.

Cookies do many different jobs, like letting you navigate between pages efficiently, remembering your preferences, and generally improving the user experience. Cookies can tell us, for example, whether you have visited the Website before or whether you are a new visitor. They can also help to ensure that adverts you see online are more relevant to you and your interests.

There are different categories of cookies, including the following:

  • First-party cookies, which are served directly by us to your computer or mobile device.
  • Third-party cookies, which are served by a third party on our behalf.

Cookies can remain on your browsing device for different periods of time. Some cookies are ‘session cookies’, meaning that they exist only while your browser is open. These are deleted automatically once you close your browser. Other cookies are ‘permanent cookies’, meaning that they survive after your browser is closed. They can be used by the Website, for example, to recognise your computer when you open your browser and browse the Internet again.

3. WHAT COOKIES DO WE USE AND HOW DO WE USE THEM?

In Short: Cookies and similar technologies collect certain information about how you’re using our website. Some of them are strictly necessary, and without them, you wouldn’t be able to use our Website. Others are optional, and you get to choose whether we use them or not.

The types of cookies and similar technologies used by us and our partners in connection with the Website can be classified into one of three categories, namely ‘strictly necessary cookies’, ‘performance cookies’, and ‘marketing cookies’. Each one of these three categories is described in more detail below.

  • Strictly Necessary Cookies. These cookies are essential in order to enable you to move around our Website and use its features. Without these cookies, services you have asked for (such as remembering your login details) cannot be provided. They can be set by us or by third-party service providers. For example:
    • We use Zoho forms to collect data for the waiting list and manage orders. To learn more about Zoho’s privacy practices, please see here.
    • We use HubSpot for our contact form and to manage orders. For detailed information on HubSpot’s privacy practices, please see here.
  • Performance Cookies. These cookies collect information on how you use our website. For example, we use these cookies to help us understand how you arrive at our website, browse or use our website as well as highlight areas where we can improve such as navigation, user experience, and marketing campaigns. The data collected is only used to improve how our website works and provide you with an experience more appropriate and tailored to you. These are non-essential cookies controlled by the cookie banner. You can opt out of these cookies by not giving consent. For example:
    • We use Google Analytics to better understand how you use our website. For more information on Google Analytics, please see here.
    • Zoho and Hubspot may also use cookies for analytics and performance. For more information on Zoho, please see here. For HubSpot , please see here.
  • Marketing Cookies. These cookies are used to deliver advertisements more relevant to you and your interests. They are also used to limit the number of times you see an advertisement as well as help measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. They are usually placed by advertising networks with our permission. They remember that you have visited our website and this information is shared with other organisations such as advertisers. For example, we use Google Ads to deliver personalised and non-personalised advertising. These are non-essential cookies controlled by the cookie banner. You can opt out of these cookies by not giving consent.

4. GOOGLE ANALYTICS

In short: Cookies help us run useful analytics.

We use Google Analytics, which is a web analytics tool that helps us understand how users engage with the Website. Like many services, Google Analytics uses first-party cookies to track user interactions, as in our case, where they are used to collect information about how users use our site. This information is used to compile reports and to help us improve our Website and services. The reports disclose Website trends without identifying individual visitors. For more information on Google Analytics, please see here.

You can opt out of Google Analytics without affecting how you visit our site – for more information on opting out of being tracked by Google Analytics across all websites you use, please see here.

If you don’t want Google Analytics to be used in your browser, you can also install the Google Analytics browser add-on.

5. PERSONALISED ADVERTISING (INCLUDING GOOGLE ADS)

In short: Cookies also help us send you advertising that may interest you.

Our advertising partners may use device identifiers and other similar technologies to show you advertisements (“ads”) that are useful to you. We may share certain information such as your location, browser and cookie data, and other data relating to your use of our service with our business partners to deliver personalised ads that may be of interest to you.

We may allow third-party ad servers or ad networks to serve personalised advertisements either on the Website or on third-party websites, including Google. These third-party ad servers or ad networks use technology to send, directly to your browser or mobile device, these personalised ads and ad links, and will automatically receive your IP address when they do so. They may also use other technologies (such as cookies, JavaScript, device identifiers, location data, and clear gifs, see above) to compile information about your browser’s or device’s visits and usage patterns, and to measure the effectiveness of their ads and to personalise the advertising content. We do not sell, rent, or share the information we collect directly from you or about you from third parties with these third-party ad servers or ad networks for such parties’ own marketing purposes.

6. HOW TO CONTROL OR DELETE COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES

In short: Cookies help to enhance your user experience, but how you decide to manage non-essential cookies is totally up to you. Please note that if you choose not to receive our cookies, we cannot guarantee that your experience on our Website will be as good as it could otherwise be.

We use cookies on this site to make sure you can use the Website easily and enjoy the services we provide. Some of these cookies are essential and we cannot provide our services without them, but there are others that can be turned off (depending on the device you use). Note that, depending on the type of browsing device you have, it may not be possible to delete or disable tracking mechanisms. For some tracking technologies, you may also not have the ability to specifically reject or disable tracking. However, in many instances these technologies are reliant on cookies to function properly; accordingly, in those instances, declining cookies will impair the functionality of these technologies. In addition, note that disabling cookies and/or similar technologies prevents Charco Neurotech or its business partners from tracking your browser’s activities in relation to our services, and for use in targeted advertising activities, including via third-party websites.

How to change your browser settings

You can change your preferences by changing the settings in your browser. Your browser will allow you to:

  • See what cookies or other similar technologies have been dropped on your browsing device;
  • Block cookies or similar technologies;
  • Clear cookies or similar technologies from your browser.

Deleting cookies or similar technologies means that any preference settings you have made on a particular website will be lost and the functionality of our Website will be impaired. We cannot guarantee that your experience on our Website will be as good as it could otherwise be.

If you want to change your settings at any time (for example, if you accept all cookies, but later decide you do not want a certain type of cookie) you’ll need to use your browser settings to remove any third-party cookies or similar technologies dropped on your previous visit.
